Wont send text msgs with 2 reception bars or less

Got OS4 (not latest OS4.0.1 due to itunes no longer working!) installed on my 3GS and I am no longer able to send text messages with 2 bars or less. Tried 20 times. Need 3 bars before it will send the message! (Texting location (my sofa) kept constant!).

Anyone else found this?

Yea I've noticed it as well. All of my problems stem from updating my phone to the 4.0 operating system. My phone will not send a text message with two bars or less and since updating finding more than two bars is becoming quite an issue. My phone also drops calls constantly.
