iPad Pro gyroscope

Hi! How do i recalibrate my IPad Pro’s Gyroscope (bought 2019, iOS 14.2)? It’s severely drifting to the left when trying to use a flight sim app.

Thanks!

You’ll need to provide more information as to the precise nature of your problem - so as to determine if you have a problem.

HOWEVER - if you are actually describing a perceived issue with your DI (Direction/Heading Indicator) gyro’ instrument, seemingly drifting by a steady rate over the duration of a simulated flight, then you are very unlikely to have a fault. If this is the perceived issue, your flight simulator is accurately replicating a phenomenon known as “precision” - where a gyroscope will slowly drift with respect to the magnetic compass due to the Earths rotation.

Unless a Heading indicator is a very expensive version of the instrument - and is slaved to a flux-gate compass - a pilot must manually/routinely correct the Heading Indicator every 10-15 minutes of flight. Suitably slaved Heading Indicators are generally beyond the reach of many [real] GA Aircraft.

Good Airmanship requires that Pilots continuously monitor their Compass and DI; verifying that DI and Compass are aligned features in most Checklists.

If my analysis is correct and your Flight Sim’ is accurately replicating real flight, you are experiencing something more akin to reality than perhaps you had anticipated. 🙂
