Screen mirroring

Do I have to have an Apple TV to be able to screen mirror to my tv ? I didn’t have this problem with Android. I tried getting the Apple hdmi adapter, didn’t do anything.

I cannot get internet/wifi where I live so I use my phone for movie steaming.

Yep.

And without Wi-Fi the Apple TV will offer no value.
