The cellular radio included in an Apple Watch sold in Holland is the same radio used in India, China, the EU, Russia, Australia, etc... But if you travel to any of those countries, your Apple Watch, while traveling, will behave as if it was a GPS only model, and depend on the iPhone and WiFi for Internet access, messaging, phone calls, etc... If you move to one of those countries, and want cellular service, you would have to switch your iPhone carrier to a carrier in that country that supports the Apple Watch. If your iPhone has Dual SIM support, it is possible to get a 2nd cellular line and associate the Apple Watch with that carrier (assuming the iPhone cellular carrier supports the eSIM, and also supports the Apple Watch via the iPhone eSIM).

There are 2 cellular radios

  • Canada, U.S., Mexico, Puerto Rico
  • The rest of the world

There is also no "Roaming", so if you have a cellular plan in country A, and travel out of that carriers area into Control T, then your Apple Watch would revert to acting like a GPS only Apple Watch and depend on your iPhone and WiFi for internet connections, and phone calls.

But if you move to a country that uses the same radio, it should be possible to get a cellular contract in that country if they have a carrier that support the Apple Watch, and the carrier is not insisting you buy an Apple Watch from them (more money for them if you do).

Okay i think i understand a bit. So i bought a watch in holland. It only work with celular if i have a contract on it? Cause so far i know if someone calls you you can just talk or call them on the watch while the phone is far. And with radios you said there are 2 so if i buy one in holland then i have the one of the rest of the world but not the one you mentioned canada us mexico And puerto rico. Right?
