AppleId update on new iphone (XR) asks for passcode on phone no longer exists

my previous iPhone was stolen. It has been bricked. Not located not locatable. I removed from my iCloud account.


my new xr will complete appleid update because one of its steps is to enter passcode which I do try and has now failed too many times.


why is appleid continuing to see the old phone which I removed


how do I get it removed from my account


and how can I complete the id update on the new phone

Use your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to see where you're signed in

  1. Tap Settings > [your name], then scroll down. 
  2. Tap any device name to view that device's information, such as the device model, serial number, OS version and whether the device is trusted and can be used to receive Apple ID verification codes. The information may vary depending on the device type. You may need to answer your security questions to see device details.
