Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
if no resolve
Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
You can always remove your finger prints and add them back in, in an effort to correct the situation.
Add up to three fingerprints and test
Use Touch ID on your Mac - Apple Support
If you are still having further issues—Call Customer Support (800) MY–APPLE (800–692–7753)
for your way forward.
