homekit disable adaptive lighting

in the home app on iPhone it asked if I wanted to set up adaptive lighting for my Hue lights.

Stupidly I agreed! and now want to turn this feature off as I don't really want my lights on during the day. Is there a way I can turn this setting off? Searched the internet and can't find anything!

Thanks.

Yes, you can disable it. Select the fixture(s) you want to disable it on, press and hold the button for that fixture. In the window that pops up, below the fader you will see a set of buttons to set the color temperature. The leftmost button should show a brightness icon with a white outline, that is the Adaptive Ambient setting. Select any of the other buttons for color temperature, that will disable the setting.

This is how I fixed it for my Hue lamps.

  1. Go into the Philips Hue app > Settings
  2. Scroll down and select HomeKit & Siri
  3. Select Advanced
  4. Select Reset HomeKit & Siri
  5. Click on the reset button at the bottom.

You will need to link the Hue Bridge back to HomeKit & Siri in the Hue app, but it works and my eyes aren’t twitching now.

I feel like a sucker for saying yes to this. What a horrible experience. That color temperature is probably around 5000k which is great for retail but not home.

I've been having this same issue and randomly the "some of your lights support adaptive lighting" notification appeared at the top of the Home app on my iPad today. I was able to untick some of my lamps which removed the adaptive lighting from the colour slots on those devices, but foolishly I didn't deselect them all and when I went back to reload the list, the notification vanished.

Apart from the loss of a colour slot, the bigger issue for me is that adaptive lighting overrides any scene I set through the Hue app. On lamps where it is disabled, setting a scene in Hue is reflected on each of the lamps which are included, with correct colour information. Very nice. Where adaptive lighting is enabled this doesn't happen, the colour information is ignored and after 30 seconds HomeKit restores whatever setting it thinks is appropriate. Very bad, particularly when you set a nice low, relaxing level, which is then overridden.

It feels like they just neglected to include the ability to recall the list to enable and disable the feature in the UI elements. I've submitted a bug report which has likely already been filed in the bin.
