Setting up SMTP mail
I need to send not receive mail in an app. I’ve done the setup for SMTP setting, however, cannot send keeps saying failed.
Which account are you trying to set up?
Have you turned on SSL if the account uses this?

Does the cctv have setting for changing the server &/or username & password?
You may require an app specific password for it.
Many thanks for your help, I managed to set it up using the STARTTLS and it works a treat.

Yes I’ve used smtp.mail.me.com also port 587. When failed I’ve changed from SSL too TLS. I did generate a specific password but to no avail.
When I enter the specific password do I need to enter the - after each part of the password?
If that’s what the app specific password shows when created then yes.

I have an app for a CCTV which allows it to send images when there is movement. I have followed the instructions from Apple but no joy I’ve tried changing encryption from SSL to TLS. I’ve tried everything!!!
Have you tried port 465 instead?
