How do I erase items and make room for backup?

It says my doesn’t have room for backup. How do I erase and make room available??

For an iCloud backup, you need to make space. See this for help, If you can't back up to iCloud or restore from iCloud backup failed - Apple Support

You will need to delete data on your iPhone to create free space. Media files take up the most space. Deleting Photos, Videos and Music will generate the most free space.
