How can I change default font in keynote for iPad?

I have the current version of Keynote, 10.1. When I add a text box to a slide, it defaults to Helvetica Neue, in 24 point bold - a very strange choice for the default. I have no use for this font so I need to manually change it each time I add a text box. As a work-around I am just copying text boxes from one slide to the next so I don't need to set the style each time.

Surely there must be a way to set my own default font style in a document? I thought it might be in 'document setup' but it's not.

I already read through that before I posted here, and it doesn't say anything about the DEFAULT styles of the slides. It explains only how to change styles after dropping in text boxes. As an iPad & Keynote user for 9+ years, I surely know how to do that already.

To restate: I want to change the default text that appears here in the object picker before it gets inserted into the slide. I don't want to have to change it manually each and every time I insert a text box:

It seems to be saying that we can change the words in the placeholder text boxes to say whatever we want, but I was not able to get the style attributes (font, size, color) to change in the object picker. See below, I changed the placeholder text in the master slide to "Faggard Frog" font in red, but the default font did not change in the object picker.
