When music is not available in your region

Recently, there has been a lot of music not available to me on Apple Music, saying that it’s not available in my region. This has become particularly frustrating because, as a musician, I rely on some of these songs that now I can’t access. It also seems like this problem is only a problem to me. For instance, the song breezeblocks is apparently not available in my region (US) however, the song works on my friends accounts. Any help with this would be appreciated, thank you!

Yes I used to be able to play these songs, now they’re greyed out and unable to play.
I have not changed regions and have always been in the US. My Apple ID is not associated with a different region.
and yes I am in a family group

Follow the directions above to change your region. Even if it appears to say the correct region, re-select it anyway.

Hey Gonnaburndishousedown,

If we understand correctly, you are trying to play a song, but you received a message saying that it was not available in your region.

Were these songs previously able to be played?

Have you changed regions in the past?

Was the other Apple ID associated with a different region?

Are you part of a family group?

Hello Gonnaburndishousedown,

Thanks for the update. One thing you could do is to turn Sync Library off and then turn it back on.

Can you remove one of the songs from the Library and then add it back to the Library again?

Delete music, movies, and TV shows from your device

"On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings > Music.
  2. Turn on Sync Library. "

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

"If a song isn't available in Apple Music

Some songs or albums might be grayed out because they're not currently available in Apple Music. Here are some reasons why:

  • Artists and content providers might release some songs from an album in advance, but not all of them. If you add the entire album to your library, the songs will become available as they're released.
  • Artists and content providers might change or remove music from the Apple Music catalog. Search Apple Music to see if that song is available under a different name or file. If it is, add the song to your library so it's no longer grayed out.
  • The song might not be available in your country or region and will appear in gray text when you search for it in Apple Music.
  • If an explicit song is grayed out, you might have restrictions turned on for your device. You can use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or Screen Time on your Mac to turn off restrictions. You can also add the clean version from Apple Music to your library."
