Intercom on Apple TV

When I send a message through the new Intercom feature it works great on my HomePods and iPhones but doesn't go to my Apple TVs. We primarily use this to tell my kids to come up from the basement for dinner. If they're watching a movie on the Apple TV they don't receive the message. Is there a way to enable Intercom messages to go to Apple TVs?
