Icloud

i’ve had a new phone, i’ve transferred all of my apps and photos onto my new phone. All of my photos are also on my macbook because of icloud. Therefore i want to save up space on my new iphone (because icloud storage is already full because of downloaded items from old iphone). How can i delete all the photos off my new phone but still have them on the icloud on my macbook (im using same icloud for new phone) is this possible?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

If iCloud Photos are enabled on the iPhone and you delete the photos/videos, they will be deleted across all devices. Are you using the Optimize Phone Storage feature to conserve space on the device?
