I am not able to restore my iphone after getting stuck at iphone software update

Steps:

Started new Software update
update got stuck at apple logo
getting the phone into recovery mode worked
Issue is not able to update or restore from recovery mode (Using Macbook with connection to USB)

Observed that black screen comes after selecting restore but nothing happens
