Can’t view pictures in text message

I can’t view pictures in my text messages, and if given the option to download it just turns into a paper image and doesn’t give me any other options after that other than delete.

iPhone 11, iOS 13

If "text messages" refers to standard SMS/MMS messages sent to/from other cellular telephones, then this type of messages is governed by your cellular carrier.


MMS messaging is required to see/send photos using this method. MMS requires both the following:

  • Settings > Messages > MMS Messaging = "On"
  • Permission to use MMS from your cellular carrier. (May cost extra.)
