Ever since the recent updates, I’m unable to AirPlay apps from my phone to the HomePod with out my appletv and my tv also turning on. There is no option to push to HomePod only anymore, it’s a combined icon of appletv and HomePod. This is very frustrating as I love having it at my main speaker.

If this is how you set up your HomePod and Apple TV, please let us know the following details. Having this information will allow us to determine the next troubleshooting steps if the issue is still occurring:
1 - If you go to the Home app, are you seeing the same pairing? If you do, is there an option to unpair them?
2 - What is the iOS version number that your iPhone is running?
3 - Have you tried restarting your iPhone to see if there was any change with AirPlay?

Such a typical bad answer from Apple.
The HomePods are ruined. 14 doesn't work. TV pairing/Atmos constantly fails, unsyncs, loses volume or sound from one speaker. Every time I turn on my TV I have to restart the Apple TV and restart paired HomePods to get the Apple TV/TV to use/recognize the HomePods.
I can no longer use HomePods for music, as they're now paired with the TV only. The HomePods will say music is playing, but there is no sound.
Apple has pushed out a buggy Atmos update that doesn't even work, and also kills the ability to use HomePods as music speakers, and gives lousy responses as the one above.
WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR APPLE PRODUCTS. Remember when they used to 'just work'?
Now they don't work and the support is terrible.
