How to Benefit from Third-Party Promo for Existing AM Customers?

I recently signed up for a new wireless plan with a provider in Canada. It comes with a six-month free Apple Music promotion ($9.99/mo thereafter) and the offer is available for "new and existing Apple Music customers".

I currently have an Apple Music student subscription. How do I take advantage of this promotion? Should I perhaps:

  • Cancel my current student plan;
  • Sign up for the promotion via the wireless provider;
  • At the end of the six-month period convert my subscription back to a student plan.

Does this make sense to you? Is this the best way to proceed? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes, I've done this before. Just cancel your plan and sign up with the instructions given by your provider, and once that ends sign up for a student plan again. All your music is stored with your iCloud account so even if you cancel the subscription to change the payment method you won't lose any data.

Thank you!

Just to confirm... if I make a six-month interruption in my AM student plan, as long as I remain a student, overall I would still get a total of 48 months of student pricing, excluding the six-month free period offered by my wireless provider. So 48 months of student pricing + 6 months free from wireless provider = 54 months in total. Regular price afterwards...

Am I right?
