App Store on Macbook Pro

I have tried to look for and download several apps from the app store only to find they are not on the platform. Recently I have tried to look for Spotify. Has anyone run into this issue? I live in Central Texas, USA.

The Mac application for Spotify is only available directly from them, not from the Mac App Store. For some other sites, Mac users are supposed to access them through a web browser, not a standalone application.
