When I save a file I save it to a particular folder and it also goes to the Recents folder. If I delete it from Recents it also deletes it from where I saved it. This also happens if I open a file from some folder, it goes into recent. Then I can't find it in the original folder

Recent isn't a place. It's a list - list of recently accessed files. So no need to delete anything from there.
That's what your Documents folder is for.

Oh, that's good to know. Since I store WAY too many files on my desktop because I think I will want to use them soon it is misleading. I was noticing that many or most of the files in Recent were on the desktop. I should put them someplace more appropriate and just find them in Recents. Is that correct?
Do you know the answer to often when I delete a file I have to put in my Mac password and sometimes not?
