Back up from iPhone 12 doesn’t work on iPhone X

So I made a backup using iTunes for iPhone 12 pro running latest iOS 14.2.1

I tried to restore the backup to my iphonex running the latest available iOS for its model which is 14.2 (note 14.2.1 is only available for iPhone 12) and it would NOT restore from back up! Saying it’s not compatible and that I must update iPhonex to the latest iOS .

now I’m stuck . Is this a bug or what’s going on. How can I restore my back up to iPhonex using iTunes

iPhone X

Greetings dimashq,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! It seems you're unable to restore a backup to your iPhone.

It's required that the device which is restoring the backup is using the same or a more recent version of iOS than what was used to create the backup. A device using iOS 14.2 will not be able to restore a backup using a more recent version of iOS. To restore the backup to your iPhone, you'll need to wait until iOS 14.2.1 or later is available for the iPhone X.

Kind regards.

Don’t you think that’s horribly wrong!

there might be never a same version for both phones at the same time! That’s an actual problem. Is that intentional from Apple not to have the same iOS on both to force people to buy? Rip Steve Jobs

it’s not the same anymore
