21.5" 2011 Imac not loading OS

After running disk utility from my laptop on this iMac, it still "refuses" to load El Capitan...it downloads for several hours and then tells me it can't complete the process. Missing packages...

The disk drive is not accepting disks.

What terminal commands can correct this?

MBP won't load El Capitan after erase G'Day, MBP, 2008, El Capitan. I'm trying to erase & reinstall OSX in preparation for sale. I have followed the official Apple instructions step by step. But...when I restart (after the erase) and download El Capitan for a clean install, I get a message ... "OSX could not be installed on your computer.....no packages were available...." So I have a MBP that now has no operating system... But El Capitan was running fine before the erase ?? Any ideas?

erased hd now el capitan won't finish downloading Decided to wipe HD and reinstall el capitan which was on my old iMac. After erasing the HD, I tried to install software. It shows it downloading, timer gets to 0, blinks then goes back to over an hour, times down to 0 then blinks and goes back to 1 hr and 7 minutes. At this point the timer no longer counts down. The log shows NUMEROUS errors. I have tried cleaning PRAM, no help. I've tried to do the install using both option-cmmd-r and just cmmd-r, neither worked. I've tried searching for ways to fix this but none have worked so far. I have a disk drive on it and an old snow leopard install disk but can't get it to boot from it. My old mac is an 8.1 @ 2.66gHz with 4096 mb ram. Any help with this is appreciated.

Unable to upgrade the OS on an iMac20/2.4 It sat unused for a number of years, at Snow Leopard 20.6.3. I try to upgrade it to Mojave, it downloads it, but then the file macOSUpd10.14.5Supplemental.dmg.download when I click on it it says: the following disk image couldn't be opened. reason: not recognized. Anybody has any advice? Thanks a bunch

Changing the date back to 2017 using terminal is what repaired my iMac
