Cannot paste screenshots into a Message using context menu since Big Sur upgrade

Since upgrading to Big Sur, whenever I use the Screenshot utility to create a screenshot (I have Capture set to Clipboard) the context menu ‘Paste’ option is grayed out when I’m trying to paste into a Message. Cmd-V works just fine. Strangely the context menu ‘Paste’ option is not grayed out if I try to paste the same screenshot into, say, a Pages document.

Text/hyperlinks all paste with no problem.

Grateful for any insight/advice with this problem

Thanks.

I have the exact same problem as well. I have a Macbook Pro 2017 13" and it only began to happen after I upgraded to Big Sur. In fact, it was one of the first things I noticed, there is not even the option to 'Capture Image from Screen' in messages app anymore. Then, to find out that the Paste option is always grayed out was even more confusing to me. This still hasn't been addressed or fixed?

I have a 2013 iMac i7 24Gig ram and just rebuilt with Catalina.

I have exactly the same issue.

When i past a screenshot into Messages, I can see the screenshot in the Message thread but the person I am sending to sees a blank speech box.

This is a real issue, tested it with various ways to create a screenshot.

It is definitely an issue with the OSX and Messages.
