It is macOS 11.0.1.
Consider how you want the recipes organized once they have been merged into a single document. If the 170 files are named in alphabetical order, or by recipe category, you may wish to merge them in a more organized manner, so that you could produce a table of contents at the beginning of the merged document that facilitates finding a particular recipe. You might consider a paragraph style for the category, and another paragraph style for the recipe itself:
- Soups
- Boston Clam Chowder
When you are done, you can export the merged recipes to a PDF where the recipe page numbers are active links to their location in the document, so you can jump from the table of contents to the recipe.
Unfortunately, Pages has no convenient means to merge other Pages documents. It is an all manual process that requires starting with an open blank document, immediately saving it, and subsequently open a donor recipe document, and copy/paste into the recipient document. Insert a new page in the recipient document, close the previous donor document, open a new donor document and repeat this process for 170 documents.
When you are done, and you have used paragraph styles for at least the titles of your recipes, then you can place your insertion point before the first character of the first page, and choose Insert menu > Table of Contents > Document to insert it at the front of your document. Now, you can export to PDF.
