Hi jlschoenthaler,

We understand you activated a new iPhone but your previous one still has cellular service. We're happy to help.

For cellular service you'd want to contact your wireless carrier to have them deactivate that previous device.

Even without cellular service, if the old device is turned on and connected to a Wi-Fi network it will still receive notifications from applications since it still has an internet connection. If you want to stop notifications from going to that device you'd want to turn off Wi-Fi, turn the device off, or erase the device to take it back to the initial setup menu.

How to erase your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you restored a backup from the old phone to the new one, then all of your notification settings would be the same. If you set it up as a new device without restoring a backup, you can find the steps to configure your notifications here: Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

We hope this helps. Take care!
