Hi, I’ve recently bought my new iPhone 12 USA version sim-free, currently living in LA, but I’ll be moving very soon to my hometown in Spain, so I'm very concerned if my iPhone will or will not work on Spain territories due to MMwave thing.

Your concern with 5G is justified as many regions will use different technology. Also, don't forget, the iPhone warranty will only be valid in the US. Only phones in the US have the MMwave antenna, so it won't be an issue for you in Spain. But be sure that your Spanish carrier supports the iPhone 12 model number for the US, A2341

There are separate antennas on the iPhone. The side antenna that you see and the internal antenna. It will work on things other than 5G. It is not that prevalent here in the US right now anyway, so you are most likely not even using 5G yet, depending on your location. I just wanted you to make sure you understood what your restrictions are for using the phone in another country. The MMwave won't work in Spain, and it is hard to say what 5G bands they use in Spain. If your Spanish carrier is an Apple approved carrier, they will know exactly what model they support. It may mean you selling the phone here in the US before you go back to Spain and then purchase one there if they do not support the US model.

What is MMwave thing? Never heard of it. “Sim Free” or unlocked iPhone bought directly from Apple will work in any foreign country’s wireless carrier.
That is millimeter wave, one of the 5G features, however I believe that MMwave is only valid in the US at this time.
