I deleted 33 GB worth of pictures and videos and it still says I have no space and its still there.

I deleted 33GB worth of pictures and videos from my Mac and the storage space is telling me its still there when I try to update my MAC.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

Have you rebooted since deleting those photos and videos? If you haven't do a boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists.  Reboot normally and test again.


NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following; 

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts 

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Try something like OmniDiskSweeper for a GUI to get a good look at itemized file size and location:
