iPhone 11 microphone cutting out

I've seen other users with this question. This started happening about a month ago, I don't recall which iOS update it was. When I'm on a call or Facetime, periodically the other person can't hear me, as if my signal is bad when actually it's strong. I can hear them fine--it's just cutting out. I wonder if the problem is the noise cancellation.

I have tried the link sent previously to test microphones (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203792). The mic itself works fine. Recordings are fine. The problem is during phone calls. Should I shut off noise cancellation? It happens when I'm on speakerphone and when I have the phone to my ear.

iPhone 11, iOS 13

I shut off the noise cancellation feature, and I haven't had a problem since. I believe that whenever the noise cancellation was last upgraded, it led to my voice being occasionally confused with noise.

Answers to your questions:

*It was occurring during normal use and speaker phone. I didn't try it with the headset.

*Calls ended normally.

*It happened over both WiFi and Cell signal.

Hello, TooManyCats! Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. We know that being able to make quality calls is important so we understand why you are reaching out for support with this issue. We’re happy to help you find a solution

From what we can understand, your microphone will lose connection periodically during calls. We’re glad to hear that you have already been able to test the microphones to be sure they are working normally otherwise. To move forward from here, we have several questions to ask that will help us learn more about this issue.

First, can you tell us if you’ve noticed any similar issues when using a connected headset to make phone calls?

When this happens, are you able to end and restart the call normally? Or does the issue persist for some time?

Does this seem to only happen when you are connecting with Wi-Fi? Or have you noticed this problem when using cellular data as well?

We also suggest completing each troubleshooting step from the Apple Support article that we’ve linked below.

If you can't make or receive calls on your iPhone

We hope that this information helps you and we look forward to your reply.

Cheers!
