Apple Account Balance Not Updated

I got an Apple Gift Card and did a purchase at the Apple Store so at checkout I put in the code for the gift card. The total price of my purchase was lower than the amount available in the gift card so I would be left with some money on my Apple ID. When I went to check my Apple Account Balance it appeared that I had no money. I pressed on manage balance and on redeem a gift card and I put in the code of the gift card thinking that maybe the code would have updated or something and that in the end I would have what I had left after my purchase. But when I was finished my Apple Account Balance was left with the original amount of the gift card. Basically I used the gift card to buy something but I didn't loose any money because now my Apple Account Balance says it has the original amount of money in the gift card. Does anybody know how to fix this???
