Are you trying to update over the air, or via iTunes. See this for update issues, If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won’t update - Apple Support

I have been trying for 2 weeks to download 14.2, it goes through the entire download process, then when finished it just says there was an error and the update could not be downloaded. I though I may need to download previous software versions before 14.2
