aptana studio 3

I have upgraded to Big Sur on my MacBook Pro. Aptana Studio 3 has stopped working. I get an Alert "Failed to created the Java Virtual Machine'. I've tried re-installing both Java and Aptana Studio 3 without success. Any help to resolve the issue would be appreciated.

It is my understanding that due its age, Aptana Studio 3 requires Java 6. This version of Java is not supported on Catalina, or Big Sur because it is 32-bit code, and no Apple installers offering Java 6 will work either. You will need to run Aptana Studio 3 on macOS Mojave where 32-bit code (and Java 6) are still supported, or within a Big Sur compatible virtual machine from a Mojave guest operating system.
