Sidecar (MacBook and iPad mirroring) not working

I just purchased a MacBook Air and I am trying to have it mirror with my iPad pro (iPadOS 14.2). The airplay icon is not showing up on my MacBook menu bar. I have turned on "show mirroring options in the menu bar" and ensured that the "handoff" is turned on for both devices.

Some people have recommended Sidecar but they do not tell you how to do that. I believe that you click and hold on the green dot on a window and an option will appear but my iPad mini doesn't show up there either. Are there other settings for Sidecar? What I want to do is drag a window to the iPad so that I can use an Apple Pencil (gen 1 for gen 5 Mini) to draw on Photoshop etc. I'm using the latest iOS for the iPad and Monterrey 12.6.3. Airplay icon not showing - can't use sidecar I'm trying to use sidecar on my MacBook Air 2018 with iPad Pro 4th generation. I don't see an airplay icon on the menu bar of my MacBook and I've checked displays and the 'show mirroring options in the menu bar when available' is on but I can't turn on airplay display and don't see any icons. I also don't have a sidecar option in my system preferences. I've connected my MacBook with my iPad by cable and made sure they are both connected to the same wifi and iCloud accounts with their bluetooth on but nothing's happening. Is there some other way I can turn on airplay or use sidecar?

Sidecar troubles My 2019 MacBook Pro is connected via Bluetooth to my Ipad Air (3d Gen), but my ipad is not mirroring in Airplay. I've gone through all the steps and everything is set up as instructed, but it still is not showing up. Any advice?
