M1 Mac Mini, Displays wont turn on after wake from sleep

Ive a brand new M1 mac mini with 2 external displays 1 on USBC and another on HDMI. One is a samsung 32 4k and the other is an asus 28 4k. Both work perfectly with the mac ordinarily, however on wake from sleep often one or both of them wont turn back on. Turning them off and on doesn't seem to help but unplugging and replugging the cables into the back of the Mac Mini seems to get them working again. This seems to be rather random, sometimes its just one monitor sometimes its the other, sometimes i get graphical glitches on one of the screens (agains fixed by unplugging and replugging the monitor cable into the back of the mini). To me this seems like a software glitch with the graphics drivers I would assume the next update will fix this. I just wanted to flag it up to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

I just saw an article today on MacRumors about the most recent seeding of 11.2, which gives me hope because it included the following:

"When ‌macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 sees a release, Apple apps will be compatible with VPN apps and will no longer be able to bypass firewalls and other security tools.

According to Apple's release notes, the update also improves Bluetooth reliability and includes multiple bug fixes.

‌macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 improves Bluetooth reliability and fixes the following issues:
- External displays may show a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
- Edits to Apple ProRAW photos in the Photos app may not save
iCloud Drive could turn off after disabling the ‌iCloud Drive‌ Desktop & Documents Folders option
- System Preferences may not unlock when entering your administrator password
- Globe key may not display the Emoji & Symbols pane when pressed

The update addresses a bug that could cause external displays to show a black screen when connected to an ‌M1‌ ‌Mac mini‌ using an HDMI to DVI converter, and it fixes an issue that resulted in edits to Apple ProRaw photos in the ‌Photos‌ app not to save. It also includes fixes for ‌iCloud Drive‌, System Preferences, and more.

Thanks for your quick reply. Wow, I'm crushed if your advice is accurate. I am using an HDMI cable direct and it still won't wake. A new cable, high speed, and tested. You had five earlier with no problems, but they were Intel, and then your last one 18, has issues. Being a complete newbie to Apple, (well, I do have an iPhone 7) I am a little naive thinking this should not be an issue with their mighty 'flagship' M1. I'll jump through their tech tests and troubleshooting for a couple of weeks and then I will return it if nothing changes. Is waking from sleep an issue with their new M1 laptops too? Cr@p... Switching to Mac was a HUGE decision...lots of learning for me in a new OS, new office (pages, numbers...etc), printing, keyboard shortcuts, music apps, Photoshop... If anyone else reads this, does anyone have it waking up??? Let me know...

I have the same situation 2 macmini M1 1 in the office and 1 at home .... the one in the office has the problem and I can't find a solution, the identical one at home purchased 1 month later works. Now I don't know how to do it because the 14 days for the return have passed and I was confident in a software solution that does not seem to arrive at all.

Can anyone tell me how I can and if I can solve it? How should I do to get it replaced if possible?

Thanks

Yes. I installed it and the problem persists. The two monitors are recognized on startup but not when waking from sleep. I haven't had time to go through the two hours of instructions given to me by customer support. I am sure it will not help anyway. I suspect it has something to do with the display going to sleep before the mac recognizes it.

Sorry but this cannot be the answer on the long term. I NEED and WANT to have separate spaces for each display, otherwise I don't need two separate displays. Reducing the extent of functionality cannot be a solution! The problem needs to be solved on Mac OSX. And this case simply hasn't been taken into account by the developers. So please Apple get a solution to this, because this seems to be a serious problem with more than 600 people having the same issue.

Well, I have just installed Big Sur 11.6 update. Not sure yet if it's solve the monitor not waking up problem but I get theimpression that it has introduced a new one... when I wake the computer, application windows sometimes seem to have moved from the screen they were on when I put the computer to sleep - and I have to move them back to the monitor they are supposed to be on.

I have the same problem but slightly different.... Thank god I thought I was going mad!!!

I have just bought a second 2018 Mac mini connected it to ONE Samsung 65" tv. Everything works fine but if it goes to sleep at night it won't come back on with the press of a key or the movement of the mouse. I have to reset the Mac mini for it to boot again????

I am just using a HDMI lead, which I know works perfectly as it was on my 2013 Mac mini setup for years and I never had this issue.

I have tried turning sleep off but, nothing!! It simply says on the screen that the tv cannot find the source and shows a powered off button.

Im on Monterey 12.0.1.

Is there a solution to this as I have only switched my old Mac mini to a newer version and now have problems??
