Is there any way to disable SMS fallback on iMessages either for specific numbers, or for numbers that are out of contract, such as international numbers?
I’d far rather use iMessage than WhatsApp, but it always runs the risk that I could be charged per message without warning when texting family abroad.

From our understanding, you have questions about disabling Send as SMS for particular contacts. We’d be happy to shed some light on this.
In this case, Send as SMS is a feature that applies to all contacts, regardless of whether they are international. However, you can disable the feature, then if it is not delivered as an iMessage, you’d have the option of manually sending it as a text message.
