change .pct to .jpg

Some of my pictures are blank and they have a .pict extension. I followed the advice I found here and it didn't work. So I want to see what other suggestions there are.

What advice was that?

Try making an Automator app to change any image file to a .jpg file. It will look like this in Automator:

Just drag an image file onto it and it will be converted into a jpeg file. I'd run it on a copy of the file just in case as it will change whatever file is dropped on it.

Thanks for telling me what Automator is. Nice to know I already have it. I tried Graphic Converter and it kept crashing. So did Preview, which was the advice I received previously.

But Automator doesn't come with instructions and the window looks nothing like yours. When I tried opening a .pict file into the window it imported all the .pict files but they were all greyed out.
