change .pct to .jpg
Some of my pictures are blank and they have a .pict extension. I followed the advice I found here and it didn't work. So I want to see what other suggestions there are.

Try making an Automator app to change any image file to a .jpg file. It will look like this in Automator:
Just drag an image file onto it and it will be converted into a jpeg file. I'd run it on a copy of the file just in case as it will change whatever file is dropped on it.
Thanks for telling me what Automator is. Nice to know I already have it. I tried Graphic Converter and it kept crashing. So did Preview, which was the advice I received previously.
But Automator doesn't come with instructions and the window looks nothing like yours. When I tried opening a .pict file into the window it imported all the .pict files but they were all greyed out.
Look for the Change Type of Images by Preview and drag it into the pane on the right. Set the To Type to JPEG and save as an application:
