How to use PIN instead of Face ID with Apple Pay

Hi, when I’m paying for purchases at stores I normally use Apple Pay and I authenticate it with Face ID. However since the pandemic it no longer works because of my face mask. So I disabled Face ID for Apple Pay, hoping it will allow me to enter my 6 digit PIN instead. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work and won’t prompt for my PIN and and the payment doesn’t go through. Does anyone know of a workaround so I can use Apple Pay without Face ID? Using iPhone 11 on iOS 14.

Thanks :)

Thanks! Got it working after. When I saw “double tap” pop up I thought it meant to double tap the screen, not the side button. Double tapping the side button was the answer. Thanks again.

Hey there chrisa2323,

We understand you'd like to use your passcode with Apple Pay instead of Face ID, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

After double tapping the side button to initiate Apple Pay, you should then see an option for "Pay with Passcode" after it doesn't recognize you with Face ID. Learn more about using Apple Pay here: How to use Apple Pay

Cheers!
