How to turn off "Face ID is attention aware" so alarms are loud while looking at the iPhone?

How to turn off "Face ID is attention aware" so alarms are loud while looking at the iPhone? This feature is not for the elderly. Remember, the baby boomers (like myself) have hearing issues. In other words, not all of your iPhone marketshare are millennials.

Here is what is written in the introductory email for new iPhones, "Turn down alarms and ringers. Face ID is attention aware, so you can glance at an alarm or ringer notification to instantly lower the volume."

I consider this a "safety issue for the elderly". Any ETA for a resolution?
