"iOS" is the system software that runs on your iPhone or iPad. "macOS" is the operating system that runs your Mac. Updating your iPhone will not cause an update on your computer.

Please specify what "required update" you are asking about.

Can you provide a screenshot of the advisory which states that an update is required?

Your brief description leads me to the conclusion that the advisory is not asking you to upgrade your macOS. It may only be asking for you to update your iTunes software to access your iPhone.
