Storage

I was using 11 pro max before. Recently purchased 12 pro max. While the time I was transferring all the data’s from 11 to 12 the system storage I was used in 11 pro max was 58 GB out of 256 . When I transferred the same to 12 pro max the system strobe shows 222 GB out of 256. How that 58 turned to 222.

I am not sure where did you see 58 GB and where are you seeing 222 GB.

I am also not aware of the transfer process used by you.

iCloud by default, only has 5GB of storage space for your backup.

When you get a popup message on your iPhone or iPad that the storage is full.

Look closely storage of iPhone and iCloud.

You cannot increase storage of iPhone. However you can optimise iPhone Storage by using iCloud Storage. Save space on your device

Settings > [your name] > iCloud Tap Photos > Choose Optimize [device] Storage Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

iCloud storage is primarily for keeping a copy of your iPhone data safely on cloud. If you delete data on iPhone, data on iCloud is gone.

iPhone Storage (Setting > General > iPhone Storage)

  1. Total storage remains same through out life span of the iPhone
  2. Storage can not be enhanced
  3. You may take back up on Mac or PC using iTunes without iCloud

iCloud Storage (Settings > [Tap your name] > iCloud)

  1. By default every user gets 5GB of free storage space
  2. You can buy more storage based on your requirement 50, 200GB, 2TB with monthly subscription
  3. Based on your storage capacity you can back up iPhone or iPad
  4. The space can be shared between your family members for storage plan beyond 200GB

If you have used backup from either iCloud or iTunes then

Watch the iTunes BackUp Size on a GIF below

Note this is a compressed backup size. (During restoration it will expand)

See the GIF which shows as 28.03 GB used space on iPhone 6 and the Backup Size id 5.26GB

Same is true for iCloud Backup too. What you see the size is compressed Size

iCloud backup size on iCloud is 3.5 GB for the same iPhone same date that is because iCloud backup doesn’t include information that are synced and stored in iCloud, like Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, Mail, Notes, Voice Memosshared photosiCloud Photos*, Health data, call history, and files you store in iCloud Drive.

*-If you had turned on iCloud Photos, your content is automatically stored in iCloud.
