iPhone 12 iOS14 apps

Apps will neither install or update on my iPhone 12, they go through the motions of updating or installing, but then the phone just reports the update available again, the same thing happens with newly downloaded apps, now been going on for 4 days, I've tried the chat service but am constantly disconnected and phone lines impossible.
