iMac as monitor for m1 Mac mini? Which cable?

I have a mid 2011 iMac 21” and I want to use it as a monitor for a new Mac mini with the M1 chip. It is my understanding that I can use the Thunderbolt 2 port on the iMac to connect a thunderbolt 3 port on the new Mac mini to do that. If true, what cable and or adaptor do I need? Will this be reliable?

That will not work with the M1 Mac Mini.

2020 Mac's and M1 Mac Mini's, do not support Target Display Mode.
