how do I retrieve my old text messages
I need to produce text messages as proof for my attorney but they have been deleted. How do I find them?

The only way to retrieve deleted text messages. If you are using iCloud Messages, there is no way, they are gone. If not, you would have to restore the iPhone to a backup that was made when the messages were on the phone. However, if this has been some time back, then the backups are overwritten as time passes, so you may not have a backup that you can use.
