Red minus sign on folders from a docked drive from an old mac

My MacBook Air had water spilled on it and we opted to buy a new computer. I decided to remove the SSD and put it in an enclosure from OWC. It mounted just fine!

When I navigated to the user folder and then clicked on my user, all of the folders have a red minus sign on them and it doesnt show any content. I tried a few things but couldnt get in to see the files.

Any ideas on what i can do? I am running Catalina and i believe the last machine was also on Catalina.

Get info on the external drive and check the box to Ignore Ownership on the drive.

If that doesn't work, select the folder, Get Info, click the padlock in Sharing and Permissions to authenticate, then add your user to the list with at least read privileges.
