Apple store broke my phone

what happens when apple breaks my phone while checking the phone

i went to apple today for my xs max it was lagging and unresponsive

and it kept restarting apple specialist asked me if i wanted to let them open

the phone which i agreed the specialist comes back with my phone screen

cracked and said its on them and they would replace the phone but i dont

remember what he said about keeping my old phone the one they broke

I'm not sure what your question is? They clearly broke the phone accidentally and they're going to replace your phone. They're going to keep the broken phone if that's what you're asking. They are not going to give you a replacement phone AND the broken phone back.

If they give you a replacement device, it’s just that-a replacement.

You will not get the broken device back.
