Activate esim on Apple Watch with the same number on iPhone

Hello, I have a Apple Watch with cellular plan and I am using an iPhone 8. I want to use the same number on iPhone 8 with an esim on the Apple Watch. I am using Airtel sim, please let me know the procedure, I had called Airtel and they informed it’s not possible to have the same number on iPhone (physical sim) and Apple Watch (esim). Please note I was in UAE before and I was using Etisalat network, I was able to use the same number on iPhone and Apple Watch.

To use the same number on your watch and phone your network carrier has to support the feature;
