External HDR display on Macbook Air M1

Based on the following article from Apple, Macbook Air only support SDR when connecting to an external display. From what i understand even of you connect Apple's XDR display.

Is this true also for the new M1 MBA ? Has anybody tried this ? I guess the new Macbook Pro M1 supports HDR on a supported external display.
