Apple Music is ruining my file organization (Upgrading from iTunes with files organized in root drive)

Hello I have a very serious issue that I do not know how to solve, I am really bugging and I am asking the community to help me to solve it. To understand my problem, you need to understand when I am coming from.

I recently bought a new Apple mini with m1 chip, and I wanted to try to do the switch from iTunes to Music app..

In my iTunes, the library was located in the root of an external disk. So the library and the folder of artists were located as this :

Library : Drive/-itunes library

Music files : Drive/Artist/Album/Song

I could configure Apple Music to make it look just like I wanted with column view and cover; I was happy. Then I played my library using the shuffle music, during a couple of days.

But after a while I noticed that Apple Music was doing something really annoying. Music app is moving any file it plays into a new Media directory:

Drive/Music/Artist/album/Song

And now all I have a mess, all my files are split in two files organisations, and my library structure is broken.

Consolidating files didn't help, and the other option (Reorganise) is disabled. In the preferences, the music folder is pointing to the root of my external drive (which name is music)

• What can I do to solve my problem? Or do I regroup everything into the same place ?

• Is there a way to just organise my file on the root of my disk, as it was possible before?

Thank you for your help

OK. I solved my issue. I don't remember exactly which steps I followed in order to fix my issue, but it was a **** and I managed to save it.

I didn't check "Keep music folder organised" because I want Apple Music to organise it.

Something although has to be very clear to anyone who is having the same issue : the folder of artists cannot be on the root of a disk anymore.

The issue come from that event precisely since this is the change introduced by Apple Music from iTunes.

Apple Music deliberately decides that all music must go into a "Music" folder.

It ends like this : #diskname#/Music/#artist folder#
