Yesterday my husbands ‘find my friends’ location dropped off my brothers phone.
I tried to send requests to my brother, mother, and two friends who all live in different cities and all have up to date iOS. And iPhones7 plus, 8, have Canadian providers and new SE. a usa provider, none of the phones are receiving ‘requests’ but say, in app, person can see your location, but they can’t. I spent over an hour with Apple last nite, no answers..?

Figured it out...there seems to be a gitch within the Find My app, it doesnt send out the invitation request. You can get around this by sharing the location in the contacts app. Go to the persons contact entry you want to share with, scroll all the way to the bottom and select "Share my location." The invitation will be sent from there. Once they accept, your location will be visible in their Find My app map under "friends"

I did find that sending the request using the persons iPhone mobile number doesn't work, even though the iOS would tell you that the invitation has been sent, the recipient would get it and accept it, etc. As per @jgirl6563s advice, find my only really works when you send the invitations via the contacts email, not iPhone #.
This is the answer. Forget resets, reboots and everything else.
Go to Contacts
Find your Contact
Select Share Your Location (Indefinitely)
Ask your Contact to do the same
You should now both be able to find one-another's location in Find My.
So I sent request via Apple ID, email, it worked. For some reason the telephone numbers don’t work on find friends anymore.
Your not alone. Been trying get Find My working in New Zealand for weeks now to no avail.
exact same symptoms, sent request doesn’t send anything but does then say that I’m sharing my location.
tried circa. 8-10 different iPhones, different friends, couple different iOS versions all not working. Done complete factory resets, setup find my from scratch on phones that didn’t use it before, nothing works.
so seems to be a global issue.
Are you all using the Find My (not Find my Friends) app, which looks like this:
There could be a server issue that supports the Find My app. Maybe give it a day and try again.
Find My app. Yes green circles with blue section. I did reset network, reset entire phone, mine and my husbands. The apple tech couldn’t figure it out either with senior supervisor assistance. Multiple phones, different iPhones all with iOS 14.2. Now I just checked with a friend in BC, I’m in ON, same thing, sent request, I did not receive, but her phone says I can see her. I did it with my husbands USA provider iPhone SE(2020). Same thing. I will call apple again I guess. My aunt also is having the same issue, out in Vancouver. So that’s 8 iPhones using the same app. ?!?

Find my friends is working just fine on both our iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max, so clearly not a global issue.
Hi all,
so the find friends app for iOS 14.2, it’s not working on iPads or iPhones. I have now contacted nine different people using iPhones and iPads and none of them are able to receive requests for find friends. But on their app it shows that they are following the person that did the request. Can someone please help so I do not have to be on the phone with Apple support for three hours today? Thanks so much, this is happening in Canada and in the United States with iOS.
