I recently purchased my iPad about 1 1/2 weeks ago and something with iBooks is bugging me: iBooks won't let me download or store my PDF's. In fact, there isn't even an option to view PDF's within iBooks. I noticed on my iPod Touch that I can hit a button at the top of a PDF online and it will store it in iBooks. But my iPad won't do that. The iPod Touch is upgraded fully to iOS4. Is it an iOS4 thing that I have to wait for the iPad or is there something wrong with mine. Note that this version of iBooks is up to date.
It works for iPad also. Make sure you are actually syncing the pdf's to your iPad in iTunes. If there's no PDF on the iPad it won't show the PDF button in iBooks.
This partially solved my problem as I was able to sync my iPod touch PDF's to my iPad and they are showing up on iBooks. But I still cannot download PDF's from emails or webpages. Any help will be thanked.
This helped answer a few questions. If there is a limit on PDF's, it's not the cause of the problem because I downloaded a PDF that I wanted and it downloaded on my iPod Touch, but still will not download on my iPad. I downloaded a software update and I am now able to download PDFs off of Mail, but still not off Safari.
You may have to wait until iOS4 comes to the iPad to gain the functionality you seek. In the meantime, before iBooks I was using an app named PDF Expert to view PDF files. Check it out in the App store and see if it might be useful to you.
