I recently changed to iPhone and almost from day one I have problems with SPAM via SMS. I already enabled the option "Filter Unknown Senders" in Settings > Messages, but it made no difference.
I can't block the sender because the SMS don't have a number for the sender.
Other suggestions?

Filter Unknown senders are only for iMessages and not for SMS/MMS. Please use third party apps for filtering them

If you receive a spam SMS forward it to 7726 (SPAM). This will add it to your carrier’s blocking database.

Unfortunately that's not very helpful, and it doesn't make that much sense: why would that option be visible when I have iMessage off? It's not even in the same area and the description doesn't say anything about iMessage.
iOS should have this type of filtering built in. In Android this was never an issue.

Thank you for the documentation. I see that there are some cases that I can "Report Junk", but I never saw that option.
Which apps do you suggest accomplishing this?

No, it’s carrier dependent. Most major carriers respect it, however.
