Hi Thank you for your answer. It all seems to work now.
The problem was that I had installed my new 12 pro max as a copy of my old iphone. It also contained all photo's and videos from that phone, which was also partly (due to the 50gb limit of my subscription) on icloud.
Before extending the limit of my icloud I wanted to throw away all the photos and videos I didn't need to keep.
So I deleted part of them on my ip12. However, icloud didn't seem to remove them. That's why I thought I better would delete them directly from icloud. I disconnected my old phone from icloud, so that if something would go wrong, they would still be on that phone. But removing the photo's from icloud didn't delete them from my ip12 either.
And my new phone didn't seem to save the photo's to icloud.
By reverse sync I meant that it wouldn't matter on where I would delete a file. On my phone or on icloud, they both would be deleted.
Now this is what worked for me to solve the issue:
- I deleted all old photo's from my ip12
- I deleted all photo's I wanted to delete from icloud and did remove them from the trashcan
- I turned icloud off on my ip12
- I did turn the ip12 off and on again
- I turned icloud on on the iphone 12 and after that it seemed to be syncing
- aditionally I did put all old photos and videos on icloud in folders of max 1000 files each in order to dowload them to keep them on my harddrive
- after a while the old photos and videos started showing up on my iphone 12. When I click the thumbnails the phone downloads the original file.
Now my ip12 pro max is fully up to date with icloud, my icloud is cleaned up and I did increase space so that even with the larger files I'm shooting now I will have enough room for backups, and my old ip still contains all the old material. I also got my downloaded backup so I'm all set :-)
